Edibles

Vegetables, fruit, nuts, herbs and mushrooms can make fascinating subjects for the botanical artist. They may be edible for humans or animals.

Vegetable – any plant whose whole or part can be used as food.

Fruit – the fleshy part of a plant that contains seed and can be eaten.

Nut – a fruit consisting of a hard shell around an edible single seed.

Herb – a plant whose parts are used for flavouring, medicine, or perfume.

Mushroom – the fruiting body of a fungus, typically a domed cap on a stalk, with gills on the underside of the cap.
