About Melinda
Melinda grew up in Sydney with a keen interest in nature, science, and art.
Science lessons at school were a favourite, probably because they usually involved some sort of scientific drawing.
Melinda graduated from Sydney University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science, Hons 1.
After working for many years as a small animal vet, and, with her husband, raising four children, she decided to pursue her interest in art.
In 2008 Melinda began classes at the RBG Sydney, with Barbara Duckworth. It was here that she discovered her love of coloured pencils.
Melinda has exhibited in the Sydney RBG Botanica since 2010, and has also had works in the Art of Botanical Illustration in Melbourne, the Canberra Botanical, the SBA Exhibition in London, and Botanical Art Worldwide.
In 2017 she completed the SBA Distance Learning Course Diploma, based in London, passing with Distinction.
Melinda’s ‘Monkey Cups’ is one of 41 pieces selected from around the world to be included in the Hunt Institute’s 16th International Exhibition of Botanical Art and illustration 2019.
